Heh, well, I'm not truly sagacious when it comes to money and my flexibility to try and build a power PC is crap (tried to do it with a friend who trained me to build PC's after he built his with buying the parts at Cyber Power PC).
Just lucky to even know that I have a gaming laptop capable to play today's games smoothly.

| That's a good build; just a bit better than my desktop i7 from HP. I paid just under a grand after taxes and everything. |

Well yeah, custom ordered it.
It was an Alienware special and it only cost $1,899. However, I know I could be saving a lot of money, but remember that over here in California, there's an expensive recycling fee and the taxes and S&H didn't help it become cheaper.
All in all, it's still a beauty nevertheless. |

Wow almost a year ago...
I wouldn't build a laptop, Toshiba makes a pretty good product, and they have some decent sales. There are not a whole lot of cases out there for DIY laptops, and since each case is custom made for a particular style of components that go inside I don't see how it would be better build one custom, unless of course you are custom ordering it.
And as Frags said nvidia makes a more stable driver solution for graphics cards, since ATI expanded and has had flaky drivers for years now. |

I apologize for bumping this year old topic, but I had something to say regarding a new computer:
I was wondering if this laptop is acceptable for today's standards :
i7-740QM processor (2.93GHz, 6MB cache)
6GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5850 Graphics (probably not a good card
15.6" Wide HD+(1600x900) WLED Display (900p) [This is a laptop, remember]
Integrated High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio 2x Built-In Front Speakers
802.11n Wireless card
So, give me a critique. Could I have built this better? Yeah, I know the video card isn't a good brand and the processor is out of date, but it's my first time building my own laptop. |

| I remember you, glad to hear you are doing well. I still play a little UT2K4 every now and then, even a little tacops: crossfire. but those are rare times now with all that is going on. |

Yeah, very sad to lose a loved one / friend.
Sometimes, when one person is missing, the whole world seems depopulated in a sense.

I'm pretty right-libertarian conservative.
So yeah, apathetic on that part.
EDIT:
Btw, California just ruled it unconstitutional recently. |
